Spy was founded in the late 80s, to consult in electronic publishing at the time that it was coming of age. I worked for a period as Digital Design Director at MetaDesign in London, and as a design strategist at the Guardian New Media Department. I was a co-founder of the London-based Internet strategy business Ascendant Partners Limited.

Prior to establishing Spy I had worked for New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley on his 1984 re-election campaign before studying Law at the London School of Economics. I began working in electronic publishing in the US when I got a summer job working on a small newsletter in Georgetown, Washington DC. I had gone there to intern on Capitol Hill.

Like many people I am increasingly interested in the way that computing and the network are tied in with changes in social life and working and professional practice. I am also concerned with the role of design in helping to think about the future, innovate and realise new products, and shape organisations.
